What I Asked Kani-Kayode That Made Him Angry - Journalist Reveals

Daily Trust reporter Charles Eyo has described the incident that led to the insult to Femi Fani Kayode by the Minister of Civil Aviation given to him in a popular social media video.

In the video, Femi Fani-Kayode angrily reprimands the Eyo journalist for asking "stupid questions."

In a telephone interview with the BBC, he said his questioning was part of what Fani Kayode had told reporters he had visited during the 33rd visit of Governor Ben Ayade to Cross River. see that it is good, and go and see what the other six state governors have done.

"Then I asked him," Haven't you told us who is paying for these trips you went? "

That was the question that prompted Femi Kani Kayode to rebuke and promise to complain to the owners of the Daily Trust.
Eyo testified that as Fani Kayode promised to fire him on the film, he called their company owner and asked them to fire him but they did not fire him.

He said his boss did not release the incident on Thursday as he handed it over to them. Instead, they apologized when the video was released on social media.

Eyo went on to say that he was not upset that he asked Fani Kayode the question, but that he was saddened that he told Fani-Kayode that he was sorry after he asked the question.

  1. Honestly the formal minister, F.F.K over reacted. The truth is that as soon as you become a public figure you try to have control over your emotions. Most especially when you want to present public issues the way they are. And the formal minister should know that there are many young Nigerians that are looking at people like him as their rolemodel. I also believe that as a lawyer he should rule over his emotions. You can not win argument with anger. As for some of us that has been following his public comment since 1999 we know that most of your comments has the element of truth especially in the security aspect. Pls next time such questions should be an opportunity for you to talk the more. I believe the Young journalist has no knowledge about you past.
