This Is What People And Neighbours Said After The Death Of This Young Man

Several streets in High Level, a part of Makurdi, Benue State have been thrown into serious mourning, as one of the defenders of the defenseless, a lover of peace and a neighbour indeed, passed away yesterday.

Nyiar Dura, was a young man loved by almost everyone in the community where he lived as I was made to understand. "This particular death is painful, because by his death now, I'm sure all these petty thieves and robbers will have a swell time operating here as they wish now" says a neighbour who chose to remain anonymous.

Taking to his Facebook page to express his deepest sadness over the death of this heavily built young man, a medical student at the prestigious Benue State University, Mr. Tersoo Benedict Gbughul, said the late Nyiar Dura was a real warrior and defender. He added that, he recalled years ago how the young man chased armed robbers around 2am, on the streets of High Level, while shouting their names.

He was only stopped by the robbers when they shot at him several times, but later recovered at a nearby clinic (Ushakaa).

Another Facebook user and commentator, Numero Iwambe, said this about the late Nyiar: "Very true, I also remember he was the only man that used to tame the most powerful madman called Abacha at high-level way back. I still remember his house beside Ushakaa clinic then. I never ever got to see him putting on a shirt. He made my childhood fun"

See below the post of the medical doctor to be, Mr. Tersoo Benedict Gbughul:

"NYIAR DURA

"I knew this big brother back in 1999, a popular figure around high level, Makurdi. Called me Awanye always, man was a real warrior and defender.

"I remember vividly how he chased fully armed robbers past my street (Okpoga street) as around 2am, while we were sleeping outside; calling their names, they shot him about 8 times before he was grounded. He later got treated at Ushaka hospital. Have many fond memories of him standing for the defenseless and also what is right. At least, you dare not terrorize our area.

"It's been a long while since I saw him last but I promise to see him and engage old memories when ever I get settle in Makurdi.

"But unfortunately God has his plans different from ours.

"May your soul rest in peace big bro"

May his soul and the souls of all the other departed, rest in perfect peace. Amen!
